2008 US Olympian Andy Hrovat will be joining the Overtime School of Wrestling for the Fall 2011 training session. He joins nationally-renowned Overtime coaches of Kerry Boumans, Ed Giese, and Donny Reynolds, Jr. Hrovat will be coaching Sunday through Thursday nights, and will be splitting time between the Cary and Naperville locations.
Andy was a highly-decorated competitor. He was a Big Ten finalist, a three-time NCAA Division 1 All-American, and a four-time NCAA Division 1 national qualifier as a collegiate wrestler for the Michigan Wolverines from 1998-2002, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree is in General Studies. He won a pair of state titles in high school while wrestling for St. Edward's High School in Lakewood, Ohio.
"I am excited to have this opportunity to coach at Overtime," said Hrovat. "I had an amazing wrestling career, where I was able to wrestle all over the world and learn from some of the best coaches in the world. I want bring all the experiences I have learned in my career to the young wrestlers at Overtime, and I want to show them that if you make the right choices in life, wrestling will open up many doors and present some great opportunities."
Andy recently announced his retirement as a competitor following the 2011 US World Team Trials, and this is his first coaching position since that announcement. Previously, while he was competing, he was a volunteer coach for the University of Michigan from 2002-2009.
Hrovat had a very distinguished freestyle wrestling career on the Senior freestyle circuit, culminating in a birth on the 2008 US Olympic Team, where he represented his country in Beijing, China. It was Andy's second time on the US World Team, the first time being 2006. He trained at Overtime regularly during his successful US World and Olympic team runs.
