Team Illinois completed an unprecedented sweep of the USA Wrestling National Duals, winning both the Freestyle and Greco-Roman divisions in both the Cadet and Junior age levels.
Coaching the team for Illinois were Mike Polz, Sean Bormet, and John Kading, with Don Reynolds, Sr., acting as the team leader.
The team was led by dominating performances from many Overtime wrestlers. They were, with weight class and individual record at the tournament listed in parenthesis, Sebastian Pique (112 pounds, 7-3 record), Jared Cortez (119, 8-0), Eddie Klimara (125, 6-1), Zach Synon (130/135, 5-2), Jameson Oster (135, 4-3), Angelo Silvestro (140/145, 5-0), Brian Murphy (145, 9-0), Eddie Cooper (152, 6-0), Joey Kielbasa (152/160, 6-1), Spartacus Chino (160, 8-0), Sam Brooks (189, 6-0), Brad Johnson (215, 6-0), Austin Marsden (215/285, 5-0).
Brian Murphy, who had to cut to 145 on short notice, ended up being the star for Team Illinois, turning in the team's most dominating individual performance at the tournament with a 9-0 record.
